Growing up, Amanda always knew she wanted to work with dogs and help them in any way she could. At the time, she believed the only path to doing that was becoming a veterinary technician. To get there, she set out to build her experience from the ground up.
She began by training horses in high school and continued into her early 20s. Eventually, she found a position at a dog daycare facility that also offered grooming, boarding, and training. It was there that she truly immersed herself in the world of dogs- learning how to read body language, groom, and most importantly, train dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments.
Later, she was offered a position at a veterinary clinic and left training behind to pursue what she thought was her ultimate goal. Over the next seven years, she worked her way up through multiple roles- kennel technician, receptionist, and eventually veterinary technician.
But during that time, something clicked.
She noticed a pattern: nearly every dog that came into the clinic shared one common issue- poor leadership.
That realization changed everything.
Amanda returned to her roots and started her own training business- and that’s where things truly came to life. She quickly discovered that while many people can teach obedience, far fewer prioritize the psychological well-being of the dogs they work with.
Today, Amanda combines motivational training techniques with both positive and negative reinforcement, while continually expanding her education in all aspects of dog training. Her philosophy centers on guiding dogs to want to perform tasks, rather than forcing compliance. Forced behaviors often lead to suppression and eventual behavioral issues, while dogs that genuinely desire to work with their handlers become confident, reliable companions.
